The first act is trucking along. I still have two more decision trees to write to make it through, but I’m starting to pay more attention to assets as well. As I was making my list I was also smart to collect reference materials for drawing and painting all my backgrounds. The other day I downloaded a new version of Fire Alpaca and updated my tablet driver. I’m going to try to install the actual tablet in the next couple of days. I really want to get the writing out of the way first before I start doing any assets just to make totally and completely sure I know the full extent of how much artwork I’ll need to make.
I’ve also been coding as I go, adding more into the file as I type so that way typos stick out faster, and I can fix broken coding as I work instead of spending countless hours debugging and writing because I tried to do too much at once. I’m probably going to start doing that with assets as well. Inputting them one at a time so that way each one works when it’s supposed to, doing the thing it’s supposed to before having to deal with a giant stack of art and effects that may or may not being working when I get to the other side of it.
I’m doing the backgrounds first because I haaaate doing backgrounds. So if I force myself to do them first and make myself wait on the fun stuff (characters) I’ll actually finish them. Whereas I might keep putting off and putting off doing them if I wait until the end—which puts me in danger of not finishing at all.
