Developer Diary: Day Twenty
Day Twenty means I’m about a third of the way through the SixTAY Days of Writing. I’m about 70% of the way done writing the first act, I have one background inked and flatted and a second one prepped, and I have the majority of the characters sorted out, though I haven’t done any official character sheets yet.
Yesterday I was fighting the protagonist’s character design and it was not getting anywhere. I thought I was having a breakthrough today, only to realize that I had, in fact, made a character very similar to Cooper, one of the main characters from my web comic The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The design looked okay, but I hate having characters too similar to one and other so it was back to the drawing board.
Later I came up with a design I think I can call my final design for the protagonist, though between sketches in my spiral notebook, and finalized character sketches on white paper, things do change a little bit. My room with a desk has finally started to be cleared out a bit, which means I might be able to get to finalized character designs, and then borrowing my BF’s scanner in order to start playing around with colors.
