SixTAY Days of Writing 2019 Day Eight- Cinnamon Churro Toast Crunch

I’ve always liked Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It always had a great texture of the crystallized sugar and spicy cinnamon on those flaky squares. It tasted equally good dry or with milk though it did tend to get soggy fairly quickly, but made up for it by leaving the milk nice and cinnamon-y. I’m always curious to try new variations of my favorite cereals, so when Cinnamon Churro Toast Crunch came out, I was intrigued.

I waited until a good cereal sale to try it and now I have. Similar to the original Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the Churro Crunch’s primary flavor is cinnamon. It’s much sweeter than original Cinnamon Toast Crunch, however, and doesn’t have as much spicy cinnamon, which is a bit of a letdown, and the sweetness comes from a sugary coating instead of crystallized sugar. The cereal pieces are puffed corn and without milk are sort of hard to chew on.

With milk it is much, much better. When the hard pieces absorb the milk and soften, they attain a soft, spongy texture like a real churro without getting soggy and is actually quite tasty, but they still aren’t spicy enough. It leaves the milk more sugary than cinnamon-y which was usually the best part of eating it.

Churro Toast Crunch had a lot of potential to be as good or better than the original Cinnamon Toast Crunch since it didn’t get soggy in milk, but that lack of cinnamon goodness mean I probably won’t be buying another box.
